PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver capable of speedily presenting necessary extension information while suppressing memory capacity. SOLUTION: A high-frequency signal of a ground-wave digital broadcast received by a ground-wave tuner 14 includes broadcast programs of a plurality of channels, and EIT basic information and EIT extension information guiding program contents. Once a remote controller 36 accepts a channel selecting operation for selecting a desired channel out of the plurality of channels, the broadcast program of the desired channel is outputted by an NTSC encoder 32 to a TV monitor. A CPU 22 detects properties (channel, segment, and genre) of the outputted broadcast program based upon the EIT basic information and stores part of the EIT extension information in a flash memory 26 according to the detected properties.
