PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To summarize document data so as to easily recognize a difference among a plurality of document data having similar contents. SOLUTION: When summarizing digitized document data, first document data is selected according to a user's operation in a document input part 1, second document data to be compared with the fist document data are selected in a compared document selecting part 2, the first and second document data are compared in a document comparison part 3, and the first and second document data are summarized in a document summary part 4 based on the comparison result to output the summary result from a summary result output part 5.
