PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce damage to a cord winder by mounting a boom length detector detecting the boom length (extended amount) of a telescopic boom 7 in a manner of mounting it without being largely projected to the rear of the boom even if the telescopic boom is small in outside dimensions. SOLUTION: This boom length detector B comprises the cord winder 14 winding a cord 13 for measurement fixed to the outermost boom section 7-3 of the telescopic boom at one end 13a and stretched inside the telescopic boom 7 so as to be delivered and detecting the rotational displacement of a winding reel 14a rotated according to the delivery of the cord 13 in response to the extension/retraction of the boom by a rotational displacement detection means 15 and outputting them as boom length signals. A cutout part C diagonally cut out so as not to be largely projected rearward in the raised state of the boom is formed at the base end upper part of the telescopic boom 7. The cord winder 14 is mounted in the cutout space C so as not to be projected upward from the upper surface 7c of the boom in the maximum fallen state of the boom. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
