PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating composition which satisfies crack resistance and hardness of a coating film formed by using the same and coating operability, and to provide a display device using the same. SOLUTION: The coating composition contains (a) a siloxane polymer obtained by hydrolyzing a silane mixture containing 3.5-10 mol of a tri-functional silane expressed by R<SP>2</SP>Si(OR')<SB>3</SB>against 1 mol of a bi-functional silane expressed by R<SP>1</SP><SB>2</SB>Si(OR')<SB>2</SB>, (b) an alcohol solvent whose boiling point at 1 atmosphere is not less than 130°C, and (c) an ester solvent which satisfies a solubility to water at 20°C of not more than 50 g/100 mL, a boiling point at 1 atmosphere of not more than 160°C, and a vapor pressure at 20°C of not more than 1.3 kPa.
