PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ETBE (ethyl-tert-butyl ether) mixture useful as a high-performance fuel having a high octane number. SOLUTION: The ETBE mixture is composed of a reaction product obtained by reacting hydrated ethanol with isobutene and comprises 60-90 vol.% of ethyl-tert-butyl ether, 5-20 vol.% of tert-butyl alcohol, 5-20 vol.% of ethanol and 0-3 vol.% of water.
