<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost and miniaturized optical pickup with front monitor constitution for accurately monitoring the output of a laser light source. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical pickup provided with the laser light source, an objective lens for concentrating an light beam emitted from the laser light source on an optical disk, a photodetector for receiving the reflected light beam from the optical disk, a beam splitter for transmitting or reflecting the light beam emitted from the laser light source and the reflected light beam, the front monitor for receiving the light beam emitted from the laser light source, and a front monitor light guide plate for guiding a part of the light beam emitted from the laser light source to the front monitor, the front monitor light guide plate is disposed between the laser light source and the objective lens. In a region which is irradiated with the light beam emitted from the laser light source, a part of the region is made to have a prescribed shape for changing the propagation direction of the light beam by refraction and to make it reach the front monitor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
