<p>PURPOSE: A method and reproducing device for removing blocking artifact of a digital image are provided to effectively remove the blocking artifact to improve picture quality by controlling a filtering coefficient pixel by pixel in response to characteristics of images. CONSTITUTION: A filtering coefficient of a chroma signal corresponding to a luminance signal pixel by pixel using a filtering coefficient of the luminance signal(401). Deblocking filtering for removing blocking artifact of a digital image is performed using the controlled filtering coefficient(402). The filtering coefficient of the chroma signal is controlled through a step of judging the video format and edge characteristic of a digital image to be filtered, a step of obtaining the filtering coefficient of the chroma signal corresponding to the filtering coefficient of the luminance signal based on the judged result, and a step of outputting the obtained filtering coefficient of the chroma signal.</p> |
