The invention relates to a third brake light system comprising flashing indicator lights. In addition to the standard flashing indicator lights (1) which are situated on both sides of the lower rear part of the vehicle and the obligatory brake lights (2), the inventive system also comprises additional flashing indicator lights (4). According to the invention, the additional lights, which are each disposed next to, and on either side of, the third brake light (3) on the upper rear part of the vehicle, turn on and off in accordance with the corresponding left or right indicator light of the vehicle.
