The method involves successively charging a battery with a regulated charging current, by freely varying a voltage when the voltage is below a threshold voltage, until a rated capacity of the battery is attained, where the signal of the current is ramp type. The battery is then charged with a voltage regulated relative to a set point voltage by varying freely the current until to a threshold current to completely charge the battery.
