<p>Disclosed is a light source device where a lamp and a power supply module are integrated into a lamp housing. A planar light-emitting device using the light source device is also disclosed. The lamp housing includes a tube member and a light reflector pocket extended over a length corresponding to that of the lamp section while forming an integrated body together. A linear light source, i.e., the lamp section and the lamp drive section are received respectively inside of the light reflector pocket and the tube member to form a modularized light source device. Electrode terminals connected to the lamp drive section are mounted at both plugs of the tube member. The light source device may further include an electrode heating section for heating the lamp electrodes to facilitate starting of the lamp. The planar light-emitting device is structured such that one or more light source devices are disposed close to at least one lateral side of a waveguide plate and received and supported by means of a frame. The frame has a cover structure, which is designed to be pivotably opened and closed from the front side and, at closed position, cover and press the edge portion of the light source device and/or the waveguide plate. The light source device is modularized and the waveguide plate and the film can be simply installed and removed from the front side, thereby allowing easy installation and maintenance. The lamp electrode is first heated before starting, thereby enabling a reduced starting voltage of the lamp.</p> |
