QUALITY ASSURANCE METHOD FOR OPTICAL FIBER, OPTICAL FIBER, AND OPTICAL CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new quality assurance method for preventing deterioration in the transmission quality in a single optical fiber caused by dispersion of a polarization mode, and to provide an optical fiber assured by the above assurance method. SOLUTION: The quality assurance method for an optical fiber is characterized in that: the birefringence of an optical fiber before processed into a cable is measured; and only an optical fiber showing a measurement value lower than a preliminarily determined reference value is selected to suppress the probability of inducing deterioration in the transmission quality caused by dispersion of a polarization mode in a transmission line after the fiber is processed into a cable.
