<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for supporting the design of a stent having a function of optimizing a characteristic by which a numerical simulation is not performed or new characteristics which are required to be successively added, and to provide a design supporting program, its recording medium, and a design supporting apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A computer is allowed to perform an estimated equation establishing procedure for establishing an estimated equation via a step for inputting the characteristic to be optimized among the characteristics of a stent or a step for inputting a result after an experiment, a procedure for storing the established estimated equation, an evaluation procedure for evaluating the stent by using one of the estimated equations, preferably, a genetic algorithm, based on an indication which is inputted in response to the design main cause of the stent, and an optimum design procedure for optimizing the multiple characteristics and obtaining various stent structures corresponding to the characteristics.
