PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an animal model for hypertrophic scar when screening medicines for hypertrophic scar. SOLUTION: The animal model for hypertrophic scar is produced by cutting a part of the skin of a rodent with a depth for cutting cutaneous muscle with a sufficient length to observe and breeding for 100 days. The rodent is preferably a rat and the rat is preferably a SD rat or a HWY hairless rat. The rat is applied to a test as a model after cut the cutaneous muscle and ensured that, monitoring the level of the hyperplasia with a replica of the treated position, the volume of the replica increases about 4 times of that of wound forming stage. The hypertrophic scar medicine can be evaluated by coating a specimen on a hypertrophic scar of a model animal for hypertrophic scar and observing decrease thereof. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
