PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an inexperienced operator who deals with a sweep-type fingerprint reader for the first time to sample a stable fingerprint image. SOLUTION: The fingerprint reader 1 is provided with a fingerprint read sensor part 3 and samples the fingerprint image by making a finger sweep vertically on the surface of the fingerprint reading sensor 3 in a longitudinal direction. In the fingerprint reader 1, a wavy concavo-convex face 5 is formed along the longitudinal direction of the fingerprint read sensor on the reader case surface on which a finger touches when sweeping the surface of the fingerprint read sensor 3.
