PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device capable of properly instructing a driving beginner to turn right or turn left at the time of going out to a road from a parking lot. SOLUTION: Information related to traveling road type, lane number, road width, limiting speed, one-way road and the like of the road to advance from the parking lot is acquired from road data stored in a DVD-ROM 111. Information related to congestion of the road to advance from the parking lot is acquired from a VICS information receiving part 18. Based on the acquired information, the navigation device 1 determines whether the beginner with insufficient driving technique can safely leave the parking lot by right turn or not. When it is determined that it is difficult for the beginner with insufficient driving technique to leave the parking lot by right turn, a route guide for leaving the parking lot by left turn is executed even if it is a detour.
