<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage in the interior of a clutch against the input of unexpected excessive torque without enlarging the clutch. <P>SOLUTION: An electric door open/close device, which opens and closes a door of an automobile by an electric motor, is provided with a power interrupting device 3, which is provided with the mechanical two-way clutch 1 using a roller 7 and a control means 2 for switching between the engagement and idle running of the mechanical two-way clutch 1.
