PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of abnormal noise at the support part of a driving gear of a speed reduction mechanism. SOLUTION: An electric power steering device drives an electric motor 5 to assist a steering according to the operation of a steering member 1. The electric power steering device is equipped with the driving gear 61 connected with a rotating shaft 5a of the electric motor 5, a pair of bearings 16, 16 supporting the both ends parts of the driving gear 61 on a housing 15a, and a damper 20 which is composed of an elastic body 201, and a pair of plates 202, 203 jointed to the both ends part of its axial direction, and is interposed between an inner ring 161 of each bearing 16 and a tooth part 61a of the driving gear 61. An extension part 202a to an inside diameter is formed on the plate 202 positioned at the bearing 16 side among the pair of plates 202, 203 of the damper 20. A face part which can be abutted to a stepped part 61c of at least driving gear 61 of the extension part 202a is a hardened layer 21 due to heat hardening treatment or a wear resistance layer such as the coating layer 22 of the low friction material.
