PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multipurpose fire extinguishant compositions capable of responding to a regular fire (class A fire), an oil fire (class B fire), an electrical fire (class C fire), a tempura oil fire and a tire fire, providing extremely superior extinguishant for persons and environmental conservation and capable of recycling a water-based type as necessary which was impossible so far. SOLUTION: The fire extinguishant compositions are formed by dissolving alkali metal salt of organic carboxylic acid and sugar alcohol as main agents in a solvent. Wetting agent is added thereto as a base agent. The alkali metal salt of the organic carboxylic acid is obtained by reacting organic carboxylic acid and/or hydroxide of alkali metal and/or alkaline carbonate and/or alkaline bicarbonate.
