PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system where the influence of the differences between the light sources of a scene is reduced, only if the white balance is based on more accurate estimation of white points. SOLUTION: Regarding each plane of an image, a difference value between selected pixel pairs in the color plane is obtained. The pixel pairs may include contiguous pixels or non-contiguous pixels.
