PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of simply correcting a relative position between a main spindle and a moving member with a relatively simple constitution. SOLUTION: The machine tool is provided with the main spindle freely rotatably supported by a main spindle part of a machine tool body, the moving member supported by the machine tool body so as to be capable of freely reciprocating, a first drive source 12 for rotationally driving the main spindle, a reciprocation drive mechanism 24 for reciprocating the moving member, a second drive source 34 for driving the reciprocation drive mechanism 24, and a control means for controlling the operation of the first/second drive sources 12, 34. A workpiece is rotated integrally with the main spindle. A machining tool is moved integrally with the moving member. The machine tool is also provided with a first temperature detecting means 40 for detecting a temperature at the main spindle part and a second temperature detecting means 42 for detecting a temperature at a ball screw part. The control means corrects the relative position between the main spindle and the moving member on the basis of the detected temperatures of the first/second temperature detecting means 40, 42.
