Use of a glass or a glass-ceramic as a material in the manufacture of weather-resistant volume components used for producing monuments, plaques and gravestones is new. The material has a thermal expansion coefficient of not more than 6 x 10->6>/K, preferably not more than 4.3 x 10->6>/K, especially not more than 2.1 x 10->6>/K at -30 to +70[deg] C. An independent claim is also included for a process for the production of weather-resistant volume components used for producing monuments, plaques and gravestones.
