A device for use in ejecting scrap from sheet material, e.g. cardboard blanks, comprises a plunger member 13 slidable in a socket member 12 and connected by a stem 14 to a block 15 which is provided with an ejector rod 16, means 17, 18, 19 being provided for displacing the slidable member in the socket member to draw the block towards the socket member so that, in use the device can be clamped on to a supporting plate 4. The plunger 13 is formed with an extension 18 to which is pivoted a hand lever 19. A second lever 17 is pivotally connected to the socket 12 and to the lever 19 so that by moving the lever 19 in the direction of arrow 20 a toggle clamping action is effected. The block 15 is of a width such that it can be passed through a slot 5 in the plate 4 and the device then turned (Fig. 6) prior to clamping. A number of devices can be mounted in slots formed in the plate and adjusted to suit the position of cut-outs in the blanks. In a modification, the lever arrangement 17, 19 is replaced by a rod 25 having a pair of cams 24, 24<SP>1</SP> eccentrically connected by a pivot pin 23 which is engaged in a notch 22 formed in the plunger 13, the cams being arranged to contact the socket 12; the socket is retained on the plunger when the device is removed from the slot 5 by means of a pin 27. The ejector rod 16 may be resiliently mounted in an axial direction in the block 15.</p> |
