A valve for use in transferring lubricant from a reservoir connected at 16 by a pump 30 connected at 14 to a distribution system connected at 32 has a check valve disc 26 which allows flow from bore 18 into bore 20 around the periphery of the disc and through apertures (27) in a retaining ring 28 on the pump suction stroke but which seats on shoulder 22 on the pump pressure stroke to prevent return flow. The pump forces the lubricant in bore 20 through bore 34 past check valve 38 into the system. When the pump is passive excess system pressure may be relieved along passages 52, 54 and into bore 18 by moving the end 66 of piston 62 off its seat 68. During the time lubricant is forced by the pump into the system the end 66 is seated due to the pump pressure being communicated to piston chamber 40 via passages 48, 46. The piston may be replaced by a diaphragm. The pump may have its own source of fluid, e.g. a grease gun. |
