PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a time recorder, configured to read an external identification means and store the time of the reading and to enable the time recorder to perform processes, even when the reading means fails. SOLUTION: The time recorder includes a timer means 9 provided inside a computer; a storage means 11 for storing the work start/work end times for each employee or the like; identification buttons provided on the display screen of the computer, in such way that matches the identification codes of the employees; a time sticking means 10 for causing the storage means 11 to store the time of the timer means 9 as the identification buttons are operated; an external identification means 13 given signals that match the identification codes; a signal-reading means 14 for reading signals of the external identification means 13; and a time pasting means 11 for causing the storage means 11 to store the time of the timer means as the signal reading means 14 reads the signals.
