PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery having an insulating layer in order to prevent an electrical short circuit due to contact of an electrode assembly and a case. SOLUTION: The secondary battery is provided which comprises an electrode assembly 200 in which a separator 230 is interposed between a first electrode plate 210 and a second electrode plate 220, a case 110 of metallic material which houses the electrode assembly 200 and has an insulating layer 250 formed, and a lid assembly for closing the case 110.
