PROGRAM, DEVICE AND METHOD FOR RESTORING CHARACTER IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and highly precisely estimate a real stroke color and a real background color. SOLUTION: A character 103 comprising a letter 101 and a ruled line 102 is displayed on a page of a document 100 in a prescribed stroke color. The background color is applied on a background 104 of the page. When the document 100 is read, a color image of the document 100 can be acquired. A weight image 130 is generated by applying a linear filter to a color image 120. Thereafter, an estimated color image 140 is created from various stroke colors and background colors. The estimated color image 140 is an image group obtained by changing original colors RGB from "0" to 255 respectively and combining them. A color image 150 most similar to the color image 120 is extracted from the estimated color image 140. The real stroke color and the real background color are obtained from the color image 150 and a restored image 160 which is the same as that in a region 110 can be obtained.
