PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas cooker securing convenience and safety by mounting a means for releasing a function for automatically reducing burning capacity in accordance with cooking contents, in the gas cooker having the function for reducing the burning capacity when the absence of a pot is detected during burning. SOLUTION: A fire power reduction releasing means is mounted for automatically discriminating whether fire power reducing motion is released or not in detecting the absence of pot on the basis of a detection pattern of a pot absence detection signal detected by a pot presence/absence detecting means 11, the fire power reduction releasing means is automatically operated when the necessity of releasing the reduction of fire power is determined on the basis of the kind of cooking, and the operation of the fire power reduction releasing means is stopped under prescribed conditions, thus the operation of a release key which must be consciously performed by a user, can be omitted, and the convenience and safety can be improved.
