1,198,393. Rigid foam laminates; laminating apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK HENNECKE G.m.b.H. 24 May, 1968 [26 May, 1967], No. 24914/68. Heading B5N. In apparatus for continuously producing rigid foam panels faced with rigid sheets, wherein foam-forming ingredients are introduced between vertically-spaced conveyed panels, the upper panels are mechanically supported beyond the point of introduction of foam by elements disposed between and on both sides of the panels, and means are provided for introducing lateral sheeting between the supports and panels to seal the foam material. The supports may be stationary or, preferably, constructed as endless belts 18 moving synchronously with the conveyer or panels, and circulating around rollers or pulleys 21, 22, 24 so arranged that belts 18 diverge and run gradually out of the inter-panel zone, such divergence commencing at a point where the foam is not completely cured and can still generate pressure to counteract sag of the panels. Stationary supports may be provided for belt 18 to counteract lateral foam thrust. Rollers 24 and pulleys 22 may be adjustable to vary the belt divergence. If the foam is not to be flush with the lateral edges of the panel, the supporting belt need not be withdrawn from between the panels. The foam may be polyurethane and the rigid panels may be plaster, asbestos cement, plywood, sheet metal or hardboard. Disrcete panels stacked in pairs may be joined by adhesive strips to form continuous layers which are then separated by wedges or rollers to allow introduction of foam. |
