PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform error detection and correction easily even if there are the addition/change of the type of the teletext data. SOLUTION: The error detection/correction program of the teletext data discriminates the type of the target teletext data in a teletext data discriminating unit 101, selects the error detection/correction pattern according to the type using the correspondence information of an external memory 104 in an error detection/correction pattern selecting unit 102, and performs the error detection/correction processing corresponding to this error detection/correction pattern in an error detection/correction processing unit 103. Consequently, even when new type is added to the teletext data, if it is the type of the teletext data in which the error detection/correction can be possible with the error detection/correction pattern selected from the stored correspondence information in the external memory 104, the error detection/correction can be easily performed even if the addition/change of the type of the teletext data are performed by adding the information for associating the type of the new teletext data with the error detection/correction pattern to the external memory 104.
