PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device comprising a broadcast receiving means which can be set to a desired mode by a simple operation when the broadcast receiving means is triggered. SOLUTION: The portable terminal device comprises an interface for operating the broadcast receiving means, for example a receptacle on which the plug of a connector is detachable, a detecting means which detects whether the plug of connector for operating the broadcast receiving means is attached to the receptacle or not, and a control means which sets the operation mode of the portable terminal device depending on the state whether the plug of connector is attached to the receptacle or not.
