<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low height connector for a FPC whose contacts have many pins with a narrow pitch, and whose covering housing can be opened and closed without fail. <P>SOLUTION: In a connector, a housing 2 has a recess 21 wherein a FPC 1 is inserted, and a plurality of contacts 4, 5 and 6 arranged in the recess 21. A cover housing 3 has a pivot shaft 31 of which ends rotatably supported by the housing 2. When the cover housing 3 is opened, the FPC 1 can be inserted into the recess 21. Closing of the cover housing 3 presses the FPC 1 so that the plurality of the contacts 4, 5 and 6 may be brought into elastic contact. The plurality of the contacts 4, 5, which are alternatively disposed in parallel, sandwich the pivot shaft 31 in a direction against the deflection of the pivot shaft 31 in such a way that the plurality of the contacts 6 that maintain the opening and closing position of the cover housing 3 are disposed between the contacts 4, 5 so as to reduce the deflection of the pivot shaft 31. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
