PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic information reception device automatically outputting traffic information from its beginning part so that a user can easily hear when a vehicle travels in an area accessible to the traffic information. SOLUTION: In a navigation device 11, a location on a map and an area accessible to the traffic information are stored in a traffic information service area storage part 15, and when a traffic information service area travel detection part 22 detects that the current position detected by a current position detection part 14 is within the traffic information service area stored in the storage part, the traffic information reception part 17 receives the traffic information. When a reception sensitivity condition detection part 24 detects an excellent reception sensitivity for the traffic information, a traffic information silent part detection part 24 detects a silent part of the traffic information and outputs the traffic information to a sound output switch part 18 for switching output of various audio instruments 16 and outputting sound from the beginning part of a series of traffic information.
