PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a position of a point defect even in a relatively bright point. SOLUTION: A brightness value corresponding to a camera is acquired as camera coordinates A(i, j) (S1) to be transformed into corresponding coordinates B(x, y) corresponding to a flat panel display (S2). A brightness value in the corresponding coordinates B(x, y) is binarized to form binarized coordinates C(x, y) (S3), a brightness value in a corresponding coordinate position (x, y) in the corresponding coordinates B(x, y) corresponding to a binarized coordinate position of the binarized coordinates C(x, y) serving as the bright point is compared with a brightness value in an adjacent coordinate position (x-p, y-q) (p=-1 to +1, q=-1 to +1) adjacent to the corresponding coordinate position, and the binarized coordinate position of the binarized coordinates C(x, y) corresponding to an objective coordinate position (x, y) is changed from the bright point "1" to a dark point "0" (S4), when the brightness value in the each adjacent coordinate position B (x-p, y-q) comes to a product valueγ×B(x, y) obtained by multiplying the brightness value in the corresponding coordinate position with a prescribed valueγor more.
