In a forced flow boiler having an evaporator coil 12 from which the steam is delivered through pipe 72 to a separator 32, feedwater from a pump 54 is fed through a line 58, 70, to a junction point A in the steam line 72, whereby gases dissolved in the feedwater are separated therefrom when the fluid from pipe 72 flashes into steam in the separator. The hot water from separator 32 is fed through pipe 78 and heat exchanger coil 66 heating the feedwater to circulatory pump 86 supplying the inlet of the evaporator coil. The pumps 54, 86 are driven by a common electric motor 96 and a by-pass valve or feedwater pump 54 is controlled by a fluid-operated switch 98 dependent upon water levelinthe separator 32.The feedwater heater 64 may be omitted and the by-pass valve of pump 54 may be arranged to vary the delivery of pump 54 slowly to avoid rapid changes of temperature in the fluid in pipe 72. |
