<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a probe positioning art disposing a probe at a position with high sensitivity and improving the position reproducibility when remounting the probe in an optical measuring instrument for an organism. <P>SOLUTION: This optical measuring instrument for the organism is provided with a region specification device 305 determining a region of interest on a morphological image of a subject, a computing device 306 determining a recommended position of the probe based on the position of the region of interest, a probe position detector 308 detecting the present position of the probe, the computing device 306 calculating a distance between the recommended position and the present position of the probe, and an alarm 314, when the distance enters within a predetermined range, by notifying it in an alarm sound.
