Helical coil 22 for use as a resonator is wound round former 16 mounted in insulating base 10 and is tuned by varying the capacitance between it and conducting can 30 by adjusting the position of threaded dielectric member 25. The latter engages the threaded inner faces of posts such as 11a, 11c extending from base 10 (see also Fig. 1, not shown). End 22a of coil 22 is in electrical contact with can 30 by means of a tab. Former 16 as shown is threaded to support the coil turns and has slots at each end to secure the ends of the coil. The coil may be coupled to a circuit by means of a window (32) in can 30 (Fig. 1). |
