PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with simple structure for accurately detecting whether or not a paper sheet has passed, by easily adjusting a relative distance between a reflecting surface of a reflector and a photoelectronic sensor. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a detection device 16 for detecting whether or not the paper sheet P has passed. The detection device 16 has a rotational shaft 22 which is rotatably supported. A contact piece 23 which can be in contact with the paper sheet P and the reflector 25 are attached to the rotational shaft 22. A reflective photoelectronic sensor 31 is positioned separately from the reflector 25 so that the sensor 31 projects/receives the light to/from the reflector 25. The reflector 25 is detachably disposed to the rotational shaft 22, and its mounting position along an axial direction is adjustable. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
