PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving body tracing method, a moving body tracking device and a moving body tracing program, allowing tracking without losing the sight of the moving body of a tracking target. SOLUTION: In this moving body tracking method, moving body tracking device and moving body tracking program, an optical flow is detected from image data of the moving body present inside an image in each local block, and the moving body is tracked. The tracking area for detecting the optical flow is set to the image data, detection of the optical flow is performed in the tracking area, a temporary tracing area is set on the basis of an average value of the detected optical flow, a first chromaticity average value is calculated in the tracking area, a second chromaticity average value is calculated in the temporary tracking area, the second chromaticity average value and the first chromaticity average value are compared, and whether the temporary tracing area is set as a new tracking area is decided.
