The tensioning device has two tongues (10) each having a thickened portion extending into a recess in the wall to be held and each having a hole (14). Two arms or brackets (16) are provided. These have a bent end which engages in the hole on the tongue and a straight end provided with a left hand or a right hand thread. A tensioning sleeve (20) is provided. This has, on one side, a left hand inner thread and, on the other side, a right hand inner thread.
