PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a class-D amplifier in which generation of foldover noise is reduced. SOLUTION: A class-D amplifier comprises a D/A converter 10 which operates at a first sampling frequency, and a PWM driver which receives an output from the D/A converter 10. The PWM driver 3 operates at a second sampling frequency synchronized with the first sampling frequency. The second sampling frequency can be related to the triangular wave frequency of the PWM driver. Furthermore, the first sampling frequency and the second sampling frequency can be synchronized by relating these frequencies so that one frequency becomes an integer multiple of the other.
