When molten steel (106) is fed in a moving mold composed of recessed rolls (101,102) and side banks (103,104), the molten steel (106) is cooled on the roll surface (surface excluding step parts) into solidified shells (111,112). The solidified shells (111,112) are pressure welded, and the resultant cast slab (113) is drawn out. As step parts (101a,101b,102a,102b) constituting both ends of the rolls have their circumferential surfaces furnished with a heat insulation material (ceramic coating), heat elimination does not advance at the parts and solidified shell formation does not occur there. Consequently, gaps result between both ends of the solidified shells (111,112) and the side banks (103,104), so that contact of the solidified shells (111,112) with the side banks (103,104) can be avoided to thereby prevent abrasion of the side banks (103,104).
|
