1,214,174. Centrifugal switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 1 Aug., 1968 [25 April, 1968], No. 36663/68. Heading H1N. In an electric food mixer a speed control shaft 44 carries two cams 54, 58 the first of which controls the spring force on a governor sytem to vary the speed and the other operates a main on/off switch 70 to interrupt the motor supply at the minimum speed setting of the shaft. The cam 58 operates switch 70 through a sliding follower 68. Cam 54 acts on a resilient blade follower 42 coupled by a tension spring 40 to a pivotally mounted blade contact 36 cooperating with a fixed contact 38. The governor has a fly-weight mechanism (32) (Fig. 2, not shown) which moves a cap 34 axially to move contact 36 against the force of spring 40. The spring 40 is by-passed by a hook portion 62 when the shaft 44 is moved to the maximum speed position so that follower 42 and blade 36 are rigidly linked and the contacts permanently closed. The hook portion 62 may be replaced by a loose link (Fig. 5, not shown). Concentric with the speed setting shaft 44 is a beater ejector device comprising a sliding rod operated by a push button and carrying a double armed actuator acting on the ends of beater shafts 26. The device rotates with shaft 44 so that the beaters can only be released with the motor stopped.
|
