The proposed method for testing steel for crack resistance implies using steel samples that are produced from a rounds blank that is hardened by surface thermomechanical treatment. The method is distinctive by using the samples that correspond to the different areas of the blank - from the area where the initial properties of steel are retained to the area within the hardened surface layer, and determining, for each sample, the force that induces the development of the crack.
