<p>Reservoir (20, fig. 3) contains impure used cooking oil which is drawn from reservoir (20, fig. 3) through filter (21, fig. 3) and is mixed with virgin vegetable oil drawn from reservoirs (30, 31, fig. 3) in proportions to form a pre-determined blend having a target free fatty acid (FFA) content. The blend is sent to processing plant 50 where it hot water is added in mixer 51 prior to particle removal in centrifuge 52. The blend is heated in steam exchanger 53 and dried and de-aerated in vacuum dryer 54. The blend is pumped to steam stripping stripping column 57 to remove FFA by distillation. The FFA-free vegetable oil is cooled 60 and stored 61 and then processed to biodiesel.</p> |
