A surface acoustic wave device comprising a surface acoustic wave element (11), in which two types of surface acoustic wave filter arrangement having different central frequencies are provided on the same piezoelectric substrate (12), and which is disposed on a package (16). The surface acoustic wave element (11) comprises a first filter arrangement (13) having a first central frequency, a second filter arrangement (14) having a second central frequency, and a shield electrode (15) interposed between the first filter arrangement (13) and the second filter arrangement (14). A smaller surface acoustic wave device can be realized by connecting the shield electrode (15) to the earth terminal (182) of the package (16) to complete earthing and preventing electromagnetic interference, thereby improving isolation characteristics.
