This invention relates to a glass chip tube seal-cutting method wherein a glass chip tube (2) is seal-fixed to a glass panel (1) and held by an exhaust head (3) sucking a gas in the glass panel (1) through the glass chip tube (2), the glass chip tube (2) is melted at its root (12) close to a glass panel (1) by a gas burner (5), and the glass chip tube is cut at its root (12) while at least the portion of the glass panel (1) on the side of a vent hole (11) which constitutes an opening of the panel is blocked. According to this method, a heat insulating board (4) is disposed between the root (12) and the glass panel (1) in such a manner as to form an air layer (13) which is isolated from the root (12), and cooling air is flowed to the air layer (13) by a cooling air supply nozzle (6). This method makes it possible to seal-cut a glass chip tube without involving panel damage, leakage at a frit seal location, variations in panel characteristics or the like. |
