METHOD FOR PROTECTING PARTS MADE OF CREEP-RESISTANT STEEL FROM CORRODING

Disclosed is a method for protecting parts that are made of creep-resistant steel, especially boiler tubes made of a chromium steel such as P91, from corroding. According to said method, the surface that is to be protected is treated with a gas containing SiCl₄ in a nonoxidizing atmosphere at a temperature ranging between 1000 °C and 1200 °C by means of a CVD process. The treatment with SiCl₄ is performed in several successive treatment cycles (26) between which diffusion cycles (28) are interposed.
