This invention relates to an improved surface contacting type backstop clutch, which is composed of a driving part driven by a torque and a driven part. The driving part and the driven part are located axially and the two parts have same axis. The driving part includes at least a driving piece and the driven includes at least a driven piece. The coupling surfaces of said driving piece and the driven piece engage closely upon locking to convey torque through fraction. The product of this invention ha high sensitivity and reliability to transfer large power and torque efficiently, therefore, it can be used in wicked status. The components of this invention can combine reposefully without impulsion. Otherwise, the components for coupling have go d anti-fraction performance which can postpone the product's life. The life of whole unit or product also can be extend when this invention is utilized in some units such as automotive transmission
