A thread feeding device (1) comprises a thread regulator (4) with a drive device (3), and comprises a thread store (22) with a thread laying element (21), which has its own thread laying element drive device (27). A control device (11) controls both drive devices (3, 27) in such a manner that, on the one hand, only positive operation of the thread regulator (4) and, on the other, a thread withdrawal is made possible when the knitting machine oscillates.
