A method for removing sample sheets from print run has the suction pressure in the sheet handler temporarily reduced, and the mechanical stacking stop retracted temporarily to enable the selected sheets to be transported over the top of the stack to a sampling tray. Existing components of the sheet handler are used to effect the sampling resulting in a simple sampling system.
